Two of our favourite berries are also two of the weirdest. Did you know that cranberries love getting wet? They grow in marshy areas and soak up to 90% of their weight in water. To harvest, the marsh is flooded so the ripe cranberries loosen from the vine and float to the top. Meanwhile blackberries grow wild almost like weeds and have sharp thorns to protect their fruit. They have one of the highest levels of antioxidants of any food, a reward for those who risk bleeding hands to harvest them.
