Zugarramurdi es una Imperial Stout de centeno que ha sido envejecida durante 24 meses en barricas de Bourbon de Maker’s Mark y acondicionada con coco tostado, vainilla Bourbon y chiles Ancho.
Esta creación nace de la colaboración de Basqueland con Lervig Brewery de Stavanger. Juntos, catamos y seleccionamos individualmente las barricas de la bodega de la cervecería en una búsqueda incansable de complejidad y balance.
El carácter de la base se construye con un nueve maltas, donde un 15% es centeno. A estas se unen maltas chocolate, crystal y torrefactas, creando un cuerpo robusto, aterciopelado y con una complejidad de sabores notable.
La crianza de 24 meses en barricas de bourbon de Maker’s Mark no solo infunde las notas clásicas de vainilla y toffee, sino que afina la tensión con las cualidades especiadas y terrosas del centeno.
El acondicionamiento final de coco tostado, vainilla Bourbon y chiles Ancho amplifica las notas de madera y centeno, elevando la experiencia a un nuevo nivel de profundidad y creando un contrapunto cálido y especiado que equilibra la dulzura licorosa de la barrica.
Mantiene un alcohol muy bien integrado y una densidad que la hacen apta para una compleja evolución en botella.
Con su color negro intenso y espuma beige, la cerveza emana un carácter imponente:
· Nariz: Se percibe una notable esencia de Bourbon y madera noble, elegantemente acompañada por notas de coco, vainilla, melaza y chocolate negro.
· Boca: Es intensa y compleja, con una textura densa y sedosa. La entrada maltosa se traduce en sabores a caramelo, cacao y pan tostado, con destellos de higo, ciruela pasa y regaliz que añaden capas de profundidad. El trago evoluciona hacia un final cálido y largo, donde los añadidos, especialmente el coco tostado y la vainilla Bourbon, se funden con el carácter especiado del chile Ancho, dejando un picor sutil y ahumado envolvente que contrarresta la dulzura licorosa de la barrica de bourbon.
Zugarramurdi es la novena y última colaboración de la serie del 10.º aniversario de Basqueland.
