De naam 'Tannenzäpfle' betekent 'dennenappeltje', en is liefkozend gekozen vanwege de vele dennenbomen uit de omgeving van de brouwerij in het Zwarte Woud.
Dit bier drink je eigenlijk altijd. Het is het heerlijk biertje voor op het terras op een warme zomerdag, maar doet het ook goed aan tafel naast wat gekruide gerechten of vlees. Schintzel oder bratwurst, anyone? De frisse, licht bittere smaak snijdt mooi door de rijkheid van zo'n maaltijd heen. Maar eigenlijk is de grootste aanrader: gewoon genieten!
De geschiedenis van de Staatsbrauerei Rothaus gaat terug tot 1791, en de brouwerij is gevestigd in de gemeente Grafenhausen, in het hart van het Zwarte Woud. De brouwers gebruiken puur bronwater, dat rechtstreeks uit hun eigen bronnen komt. Dat draagt bij aan de onberispelijke kwaliteit en helderheid van het bier.

A Pilsner lágerek ura, amelyet először a csehországi Pilsenben főztek. Pilsener és pils néven is ismert, ma már az egész világon főzik. Leghitelesebb formájában a pilsner egy jól strukturált, testes sör, csillogó aranyszínű árnyalattal. A sűrű, dús fehér hab alatt a bársonyos szájíz a lágy víznek köszönhető; a teljesen malátás gerinc szilárd és zamatos; a magas komlós keserűséget pedig mind az orrban, mind a szájban a Saaz komló alakítja. Az érlelésnek hosszúnak és szeretetteljesnek kell lennie.

During this period, its robust and elegant flavours and its high Rezenz are cultivated. Rezenz is the term for the refreshing feeling produced by the carbon dioxide in beer.
As Rothaus is unpasteurized it comes with a shorter best-before date than pasteurized beers.
