Impenetrablemente oscuro con un brillo marrón dorado cuando se lo sostiene a la luz, y con un aroma cálido y sabor a malta, al tiempo que evoca sensaciones de sabor a café al descender. Se elabora mediante el proceso tradicional de doble fermentación a partir de cinco tipos de malta, dos de las cuales son de color oscuro y torrificado, y solo está ligeramente lupulizado.
Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel es una cerveza estupenda para maridar con una buena comida en una tarde relajante después del trabajo, platos de embutidos, Eisbein o Haxen, platos abundantes de carne roja. Premios

Ayinger, Brauerei Aying en alemán, es una cervecera alemana situada en Aying, en la región de Baviera, a 25 kilómetros en el sudeste de Munich. Fundada en 1878 por Johann Liebhard, desde entonces ha sido dirigida por la misma familia. Actualmente la séptima generación lleva la dirección de la empresa, el actual director es Franz Inselkammer. En 2010 contaba con ochenta trabajadores, quienes producen 100 000 hectolitros de cerveza anuales, de 14 estilos diferentes. Al ser la única cervecera de la zona, dispone de un pozo propio de 176 metros de profundidad de donde obtiene el agua para la elaboración de sus productos.
La segunda semana de octubre la compañía celebra la Bräukirta, una fiesta con puestos de venta de cerveza y mercados de artesanía y alimentos.
