Black Sheep Riggwelter

You asked for a strong ale, we gave you Riggwelter, a powerhouse of a beer.

Much thought went into the creation of our flagship ‘strong’ ale. To create something with real strength and depth we developed a unique recipe featuring rich espresso aromas, dark fruit and roasted malt flavours.

Riggwelter Ale takes its name from a local Yorkshire Dales farming term which has Norse roots; “rygg” meaning back, and “velte” meaning to overturn. A sheep is said to be rigged or ‘riggwelted’ when it has rolled onto its back and is unable to get back up without assistance.

What better name for a strong beer from the Black Sheep Brewery in Yorkshire? Riggwelter is also available in cask.

BrewDog Rye Hammer

Jack Hammer has been single handedly ripping it up for quite some time. Now this IPA, has spawned four hammer head off-springs. Rye Hammer is the fourth of our super-charged hyped up hybrids.

A grapefruit harvest of citrus melts away to sticky roasted caramel and rye warmth, all resting on a malted biscuit backbone. Then ‘The Hammerhead’s trademark bitter finish reasserts its authority.

De la serie “Hammer”, elaborada con centeno y los lúpulos centennial, columbus, simcoe, citra y amarillo. Para empezar la adicción decenteno que más consistencia al cuerpo y un toque acaramelado tanto enaroma como en boca. Frutas como el pomelo y el mango seapropian de un primer paso por boca. El cuerpo que tiene la dota de una buena sensación de paladar lleno, pasa a un toque de caramelo por el centeno y termina con unfinal seco y amargo. Rye Hammer resulta una cerveza resinosa y amarga. También cuenta con toques tropicales y un buen final seco y amargo.

One of our flagship brews, as sought after now as it was when first brewed in 2010. Our tribute to true, west-coast IPAs. Abundant tropical fruit and resinous pine notes, a beer with a reputation that proceeds it.

Not, as some assume, a reference to the dangerous, sharp qualities shared between a tasty, strong IPA and the Woodsman’s favourite tool. The beer actually gets its name from the high moorland to the south and west of Buxton, visible from the brewery and many parts of the town – Axe Edge.
