Se trata de una cerveza roja belga envejecida, “madurada tranquilamente en barricas de roble durante dos años”, según la etiqueta. Tiene un aroma extremadamente penetrante de rica fruta de uva, con notas ácidas, muy parecido a un vino tinto ligeramente agrio o posiblemente a una gueuze. En boca es ligeramente dulce, extremadamente ácido y afrutado, con uvas e incluso cerezas perceptibles, y muy vivo. A pesar de la dulzura no es para nada empalagosa, incluso fina, con poco o ningún rastro de malta. El final es agudo y afrutado.

It also won a silver medal in 2017 at the World Beer Awards for the category of “World’s Best Oud Bruin”. Rodenbach Grand Cru was awarded a gold medal at the Brussels Beer Challenge 2018 for the category of Oud Rood (Flanders Red Ale). The Rodenbach Brewery was founded in 1836 where they now store nearly 300 oak casks that the beer is kept in to mature. Flemish red ales are renowned for their sourness and as everyone’s taste buds differ, you either love this style of beer or hate it.(Please note the beer glass is not included).

Denne grand cru indeholder meget mere modnet ale (67%) end den almindelige Rodenbach-øl (25%), som giver den en mørkere farve og en mere kompleks og udtalt smag. Bryggeri Rodenbach i Roeselare, i det vestlige Belgien er nok den mest kendte brygger af denne særlige ølstil. Flamsk rød, eller Flanders rød ale er en sur øl med en mørk rødlig farve, der kan sammenlignes med ingen anden øl. Bryggeriet blev grundlagt i 1821 af tre brødre og udviklede denne meget specielle øl stil, hvorved øl modner i unikke egnede fade (kaldet 'foeders'), før de blandes og bringes på markedet.
