Mikkeller was created as a hobby project in Mikkel Borg Bjergso’s Kitchen in Copenhagen in 2003. The ambition was (and still is) to make the world’s best beer. In 2006 we had a break through on the international beer site Ratebeer.com with the stout Beer Geek Breakfast, which was declared the best stout in the world. Demand from the US forced Mikkel to leave the kitchen and find new brewing facilities. With no funding to build his own brewery, he had to find alternative methods. The business model ‘gypsy brewing’ was invented. Not making any big investments and exporting to the US as first market - two decisions that shaped the company’s DNA. Mikkeller Heated Seats Can is a Hazy American Pale Ale from Danish brewery, Mikkeller. Mikkeller started out life as a nomadic brewery, mainly contract brewing and collaborating with other breweries and at De Proefbrouwerij in Belgium. However, in 2019 they finally put down roots in Zealand, Denmark with a brand new state of the art brewery.
