Deze exclusieve oatmeal stout is een waar smaakavontuur, waarin vakmanschap, hoogwaardige ingrediënten en een vleugje nostalgie samenkomen in een gelimiteerde 50cl fles met een alcoholpercentage van 13,3%.
Een uniek recept op basis van de klassieker
Special #4 is gebaseerd op het originele recept van Bourbon County Stout, maar met een twist: het is gebrouwen met crystal oats, wat zorgt voor een romig mondgevoel en een subtiele nootachtige ondertoon. Net als zijn voorganger wordt deze variant gerijpt in zorgvuldig geselecteerde bourbonvaten, waardoor de rijke tonen van eikenhout, vanille en zachte alcoholwarmte behouden blijven.
Koffie en maple syrup: ontbijt in een glas
Na de vatrijping krijgt Special #4 zijn kenmerkende diepgang door toevoeging van Intelligentsia Coffee – zowel in de vorm van cold brew als hele single origin koffiebonen uit Ethiopië (Metad Buku). Deze hoogwaardige koffie voegt een fruitig aroma en een frisse koffiebitterheid toe, perfect in balans met de zachte moutbasis.
Als finishing touch wordt bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup uit Ohio toegevoegd, afkomstig van Bissell Maple Farm. Deze siroop zorgt voor een complexe zoetheid die de koffie- en havertonen afrondt met een decadente, bijna dessertachtige afdronk. Het resultaat doet denken aan een uitgebreid ontbijt in een Amerikaanse diner – een warme mok koffie, zoete pannenkoeken met maple syrup, en een rustiek notenbrood.
