Inspired by that initial release and by his own childhood memories of picking fruit in his own backyard, Mike set to work on this year’s Bourbon County Backyard Stout.

This barrel-aged stout was first aged in bourbon barrels for at least one year, and then finished and blended with mulberries, boysenberries and marionberries. Each addition of berry contributes its own distinct flavor profile, with some adding sweetness and others providing acidity and complexity. A taste of the past, this imperial stout is a balanced and nuanced play on fresh fruit, vanilla, and chocolate.

Goose Island BACKYARD STOUT 2023. In diesem Jahr haben wir uns nostalgisch gefühlt und ein ikonisches Rezept aus unserem Bourbon County-Tresor geholt. Im Jahr 2013 brachten wir “Backyard Rye” heraus und unser Senior Innovation Manager Mike Siegel pflückte Maulbeeren von Bäumen, die nur wenige Schritte von unserem Goose Island Barrel House in Chicago entfernt waren. Inspiriert von dieser ersten Veröffentlichung und von seinen eigenen Kindheitserinnerungen an das Pflücken von Früchten in seinem eigenen Garten, machte sich Mike an die Arbeit für das diesjährige Bourbon County Backyard Stout. Dieses fassgelagerte Stout wurde zunächst mindestens ein Jahr lang in Bourbonfässern gelagert und dann mit Maulbeeren, Boysenbeeren und Marionberries veredelt und gemischt. Jede dieser Beeren bringt ihr eigenes Geschmacksprofil ein, wobei einige für Süße und andere für Säure und Komplexität sorgen. Dieses Imperial Stout ist ein Geschmack aus der Vergangenheit, ein ausgewogenes und nuanciertes Spiel mit frischen Früchten, Vanille und Schokolad
