This modern American Pale Ale showcases a refined balance between high-impact hop character and a smooth, enhanced malt backbone. The addition of rolled oats lends a subtle silkiness and increased body, while the switch to a specific East Coast yeast strain introduces a delicate layer of fruity esters that complements the vibrant hop profile. Though it carries a touch more sweetness than its predecessors, the finish remains remarkably crisp and refreshing. It is a highly drinkable, polished beer that blends the assertive hop-forward nature of the style with a soft, sophisticated mouthfeel and a clean, lingering bitterness.
Appearance. Pale golden (approx. 6 SRM) with a slight haze from the rolled oats. Large, white, frothy head with good retention and persistent lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high hop intensity featuring notes of bright citrus and melon. Low grainy malt sweetness with a hint of breadiness. Subtly fruity esters from the East Coast yeast are apparent but supportive.
Taste. Initial soft, grainy malt sweetness followed by moderate hop bitterness. Flavors of citrus zest and tropical fruit lead the profile. The malt provides a sturdy base without being cloying, supported by a hint of oaty smoothness. The finish is crisp and clean with a lingering, pleasant bitterness in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a slight silkiness from the oat addition. Moderate carbonation. Smooth and refreshing with no astringency and very light alcohol warmth.
