This German Pils is an assertive, hop-forward expression of the classic Warsteiner profile, specifically enhanced by a double addition of Hallertau hops. The sensory experience is defined by a heightened noble hop character, presenting a bouquet of spicy, floral, and distinctly herbal notes. This aromatic intensity is supported by a clean, grainy-sweet malt base reminiscent of fresh crackers. On the palate, the beer lives up to its 'Herb' designation, delivering a firm, crisp bitterness that quickly overtakes the initial malt sweetness. It is exceptionally clean and dry, offering a refreshing, sharp finish that highlights the refined Hallertau character throughout.
Appearance. Brilliant, pale straw to light gold (SRM 2-3) with a tall, creamy, long-lasting white head and excellent lacing.
Aroma. Moderate-high intensity featuring prominent spicy, herbal, and slightly flowery Hallertau hops. A subtle background of doughy, cracker-like malt sweetness supports the hops. The fermentation profile is very clean with no esters or diacetyl.
Taste. Crisp and refreshing with an initial light grainy-sweet malt flavor that is rapidly superseded by a pronounced hop bitterness. The hop flavors mirror the aroma with spicy and herbal notes. It finishes very dry and clean with a lingering, pleasant bitterness and a hint of flinty mineral character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high carbonation, providing a crisp, stinging effervescence. No alcohol warmth is perceived. The finish is smooth but sharp, devoid of any harshness or astringency.
