Vedett Extra Ordinary IPA showcases a vibrant synthesis of Belgian brewing finesse and bold hop character. This Specialty IPA delivers an aromatically charged experience defined by fresh floral aromas and bright fruitiness, anchored by a delicate caramel malt sweetness. The mouthfeel is notably velvety and smooth, belying its firm, assertive bitterness that gathers strength across the palate. As a creation of Duvel Moortgat, it balances a clean fermentation profile with a complex hop presence, culminating in a dry, lingering finish. Each sip remains refreshing and accessible, making it a quintessential example of a modern, balanced hop-forward ale.
Appearance. Deep gold color (8-10 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a large, creamy, white head that exhibits excellent persistence and leaves thick lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Prominent floral and fruity hop character with notes of grapefruit and meadow flowers. A supportive background of bready malt and light caramel sweetness is present. Clean fermentation profile with very light, spicy Belgian-style esters.
Taste. Initial impression of mild caramel sweetness and stone fruit. Bitterness is medium-high and increases in intensity toward the finish, becoming firm but remaining clean. Hop flavors of citrus peel and floral honey are dominant. Finishes dry with a lingering, pleasant bitterness and a touch of toasted malt in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notable velvety smoothness. Moderate carbonation provides a crisp but creamy texture. Alcohol warmth is very low and well-integrated for its strength.
