Transient Artisan Ales

This Imperial Stout presents an opulent sensory journey, shaped by twenty-four months in Blis Maple and Widow Jane Bourbon Barrels. The aroma is saturated with Comoros Vanilla Beans, offering floral and creamy highlights against a backdrop of dark chocolate and espresso. On the palate, the maple influence provides a rich, syrupy depth that melds with charred oak and spirituous bourbon warmth. Expect a decadent, viscous texture where layers of black licorice and dried figs are enveloped by an intense, lingering sweetness. The extended maturation ensures the 14% ABV remains velvet-smooth, balancing the robust roasted malts with a complex, barrel-aged sophistication.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque. Pours with a thick, deep tan head with moderate retention. High viscosity is apparent in the glass, leaving distinct legs when swirled.

Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of rich Comoros Vanilla Beans, dark chocolate, and roasted coffee. Strong notes of maple syrup and bourbon-soaked oak are prominent, supported by esters of raisins and figs. No hop aroma is perceived.

Taste. Initial impression is intensely sweet and malty, featuring bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and black licorice. The Blis Maple provides a distinctive syrup richness, while Widow Jane Bourbon barrels contribute notes of vanilla, toasted oak, and spirit. Bitterness is medium-high but primarily serves to balance the high residual sugar. The finish is long and warming with a lingering dessert-like sweetness.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied and viscous with a chewy, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant but smooth alcohol warmth is present, well-integrated after the long aging process.
