This Double IPA presents an intense, modern sensory profile led by a vibrant hop-driven character. The use of experimental HBC 586 hops delivers a concentrated burst of ripe mango and sweet pineapple, while Simcoe, Idaho 7, and Amarillo contribute layers of citrus zest, resinous pine, and earthy stone fruit. A clean malt backbone provides a smooth, medium-full body that supports the assertive bitterness without adding heavy sweetness. The finish is remarkably dry for its strength, allowing a clean, warming alcohol presence to linger alongside a persistent, resinous hop finish. It is a bold, hop-forward showcase of contemporary hop breeding.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (8-10 SRM). Features a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing. Displays a slight, modern hop haze while remaining translucent.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical fruit salad notes of mango and pineapple. Secondary notes of grapefruit pith, resinous pine, and faint apricot emerge. The malt is clean and neutral, providing a light grainy background with no significant esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a massive wave of tropical and citrus hop flavors. Intense notes of mango and pineapple follow through from the aroma, supported by a firm, resinous bitterness. The malt flavor is low and clean, offering a soft bready support. Finishes dry and crisp with a lingering, clean hop bitterness and a touch of smooth alcohol.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a refreshing prickle that cuts through the hop oils. Contains a noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth without any harshness or astringency.
