Cire presents an opulent sensory journey through sixteen years of Solera blending, manifesting as a quintessential Old Ale refined by extended maturation. The influence of Buffalo Trace and Heaven Hill bourbon barrels imparts profound layers of charred oak, rich vanilla, and toasted coconut over a foundation of black treacle and dark muscovado sugar. Deep vinous notes of mission figs and medjool dates emerge from the Solera process, harmonizing with a subtle leather and tobacco complexity. This anniversary release balances decadent malt sweetness against a refined oxidative character, reminiscent of a vintage Tawny Port, delivering a sophisticated and deeply layered finish.
Appearance. Deep mahogany to near-opaque dark brown with ruby highlights. Pours with a thin, mocha-colored collar that dissipates quickly to a fine rim, exhibiting low head retention typical of high-gravity barrel aging.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex bouquet of molasses, toffee, and dark fruit such as raisin and plum. Pronounced bourbon character provides notes of vanilla and toasted oak, alongside evident oxidative notes of sherry, leather, and light musk.
Taste. Lush and malty-sweet initial impression. Flavors of caramel, dark chocolate, and dried figs are punctuated by bourbon-soaked oak. Significant barrel presence provides vanilla and baking spices. Hop bitterness is low, allowing the malt and wood to dominate; finishes warm, lingering, and slightly vinous.
