Temporal Artisan Ales Coffee Orbital Distortion

A blend consisting of imperial stout aged in a Blanton's bourbon barrel for 35 months and an imperial stout aged in a coconut rum barrel, then double barrel-aged in a Brazilian Amburana wood barrel.

Conditioned on "Esperanca" coffee from Brazil, imported and locally roasted by Prototype Coffee.

For this blend Temporal built off a previous Void beer, Orbital Distortion, which was released last summer. You may recall its vibrant green wax and fudge-y, coconut-y tones. It was born of the concept of blending a few of my very different imperial stout base beers, enhancing flavours present in each. This blend isn't exactly the same as Orbital Distortion, it features a bit more bourbon barrel aged stout, and the components have all aged another 10 months or so. But the vibe of the base is very similar.

To that delightful blend, Temporal added "Esperanca" coffee from Prototype. This coffee is grown in Brazil and shares a special connection to their roastery in that friends of one of the roasters own the farm!

The brewers thought this coffee was a perfect complement to the base beer. It features some nice, classic coffee notes - prominent dark chocolate, a bit of creamy macadamia nut, and a hint of floral vanilla.

These components harmoniously meld together, creating something that is smooth, intense, and vibrant.
