A sophisticated collaboration between Stillwater Artisanal and Freigeist Bierkultur, this Hybrid Sequence release presents a vinous elegance rooted in Spätburgunder grapes. The spontaneous fermentation and 2017 vintage oak aging cultivate a complex sensory profile defined by the rustic character of red wine. Expect a fusion of red berry brightness and earthy undertones, reflecting the Pinot Noir variety’s signature cherry and leather notes. The oak provides a structural backbone that integrates seamlessly with the high carbonation and bone-dry finish. This Grape Ale bridges the gap between sparkling wine and wild beer, delivering a refined, tannic, and deeply aromatic experience.
Appearance. Deep ruby to burgundy in color with excellent clarity. It is topped by a moderate, pale pink-tinted head that shows medium-low retention, eventually fading to a fine ring.
Aroma. High intensity of red fruit aromatics, specifically cherry and wild strawberry, derived from the Spätburgunder grapes. Beneath the fruit lies a rustic complexity of damp earth, leather, and a hint of tobacco. A subtle spicy oak presence is noticeable, complementing the restrained, neutral malt base.
Taste. The palate is dominated by the varietal grape character, offering flavors of tart red currants and dried cherries. Rustic, earthy elements provide a savory depth typical of red skin contact.
