This vibrant Double IPA presents a bold sensory experience driven by an exuberant double dry-hop addition. The aromatic profile is led by the distinctive contributions of Idaho-7, Cascade, and Sabro, creating an intense bouquet of ripe tropical fruit, zesty citrus, and a hint of creamy coconut. On the palate, the high hop intensity delivers punchy mango and grapefruit flavors supported by a clean, neutral malt base. Despite its 8.1% strength, it maintains high drinkability with a dry finish and firm bitterness, embodying a refreshing ode to warm weather with every complex, resinous sip.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (7-9 SRM). Pours with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves delicate lacing. Displays good clarity, though a very slight, soft haze from the heavy double dry-hopping may be present.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent citrus zest and tropical fruit notes. Specific layers of pineapple and mango from Idaho-7, floral grapefruit from Cascade, and a subtle cedar or coconut undertone from Sabro are evident. The malt is supportive and neutral, providing a light grainy background. Fermentation is clean with a very low fruity ester profile.
Taste. The initial impression is an intense burst of hop-forward complexity. Strong flavors of tangerine, stone fruit, and tropical melon dominate the mid-palate. Malt flavor is low and unobtrusive, offering a soft, bready support without significant caramel sweetness. Bitterness is moderately high but smooth, avoiding harshness. The finish is medium-dry and crisp, leaving a lingering resinous and citrusy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from the hop oils. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively mouth-coating sensation. A restrained, clean alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no hop-derived astringency.
