Soma Hypebeast presents an assertive yet refined sensory experience, embodying the modern evolution of the Double IPA. This Double NEIPA utilizes a heavy-handed double dry-hop addition of Cashmere, Citra, and Mosaic to saturate the palate with depth. The aroma is a complex tapestry of tropical mango and blueberry from the Mosaic, bright grapefruit from the Citra, and a unique herbal-melon finish characteristic of Cashmere. Despite its 8% ABV, the beer remains exceptionally drinkable, balancing a clean, pale malt foundation with a firm hop bitterness that avoids harshness. It concludes with a crisp, dry finish, leaving a lingering impression of resinous fruit and fresh citrus zest.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange with a soft, uniform haze. Topped by a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring prominent tropical fruit, melon, and citrus. Specific notes of mango and berry are supported by a clean, neutral, grainy maltiness. Fermentation esters are lightly fruity and well-integrated.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors dominated by citrus and stone fruit. Initial malt sweetness is low and unobtrusive, giving way to a moderately high bitterness that remains smooth rather than harsh. The finish is dry with a lingering hoppy and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate, providing a gentle prickle. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is noticeable but lacks any solventy heat.
