This English IPA presents a classic profile defined by its 6.4% ABV and deep amber hue. The sensory experience is led by a generous floral and spicy hop aroma that intertwines with the rich, toasted notes of Crystal malt. While maintaining the traditional assertive bitterness of the style, the palate finds a harmonious balance between caramel sweetness and a firm hop backbone. The result is a substantial, medium-full bodied ale that reflects the brewer's intent for a robust English favorite, finishing with a refined, lingering dryness and a clean, toasted malt character that provides a sophisticated counterpoint to the hop intensity.
Appearance. Medium amber to deep copper color (12–14 SRM). Displays a persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing and brilliant clarity.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Dominated by floral and spicy-peppery hop notes. Supporting this is a rich malt profile featuring toasted bread and distinct caramel from the use of Crystal malt. Low fruity esters are present, adding subtle depth.
Taste. Initial impression is of a firm, assertive bitterness balanced by a sturdy malt backbone. Hop flavors mirror the aroma with notes of spicy orange peel and dried flowers. The malt provides flavors of toasted biscuits and light toffee. Bitterness is high but well-integrated, leading to a medium-dry finish where the toasted caramel provides a smooth transition.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth texture. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high. A light, smooth alcohol warmth is present, consistent with the strength, without any harshness or astringency.
