Billboard Baggins is a monumental Imperial Porter and Braggot hybrid that transforms the American Porter framework into a decadent, barrel-aged masterpiece. Twelve months in Cognac barrels provides a sophisticated layer of toasted oak and vinous warmth, beautifully complementing the base of Chocolate malt and Black malt. The addition of Bulgarian Honey lends a rich, floral complexity and velvet texture, while vanilla beans enhance the aromatic sweetness. The profile is defined by intense dark chocolate, espresso, and dark fruit notes, balanced by a firm bitterness and the spirituous depth of fine brandy. It is a luxurious, slow-sipping experience where every element is harmoniously integrated.
Appearance. Very dark brown, nearly opaque black in the glass (40+ SRM). It pours with a dense, creamy, tan-colored head that shows moderate retention, leaving oily legs on the glass due to the high alcohol and honey content.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and charred grain. Deep notes of vanilla and floral honey are prominent, supported by secondary aromas of dried plum, oak, and the warming, spirituous character of Cognac.
Taste. An initial impression of rich, honeyed sweetness and creamy vanilla gives way to moderately strong roasted flavors of cocoa and espresso. The Cognac barrel maturation adds layers of dark fruit and oaky tannins. Medium-high bitterness and a lingering, spirituous warmth provide balance against the malt richness, finishing with a smooth, sweet, and slightly resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Full and viscous body with a luxurious, velvety texture enhanced by the honey. Carbonation is moderate-low, providing a gentle lift. A significant, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being harsh or fusel.
