Fundamental Tone is a vibrant American IPA that masterfully bridges the gap between contemporary tropical vibrancy and classic old-school structure. Intense aromatics of sun-ripened pineapple and bright nectarine collide with sharp grapefruit zest, creating a layered citrus and stone fruit profile. Appearance. Deep gold with brilliant clarity (approx. 7 SRM). Features a medium-sized, white, persistent head with excellent retention and significant lacing as the glass empties.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical pineapple and stone fruit nectarine. Sharp grapefruit zest and a distinct resinous, pine-like character follow. Malt is low and clean, showing only as a light grainy sweetness. Fermentation is clean with no noticeable esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with prominent pineapple and nectarine flavors. The mid-palate shifts toward a punchy, resinous grapefruit bite with a high level of bitterness. Malt flavors are low and neutral, providing a light toasted support. The finish is decidedly dry and clean, leaving a lingering hoppy and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, non-astringent texture. Carbonation is medium-high, contributing to a crisp, refreshing mouthfeel. A very light, clean alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
