This Double IPA presents a celestial experience, pouring with a hazy, nebula-like glow. The intricate hop bill featuring Comet, Strata, and Helios drives a vibrant sensory profile defined by bright citrus, mixed berries, and exotic lychee. The addition of Simcoe and Eureka hops adds depth with subtle resinous undertones. Despite its 8% ABV strength, the malt base of Munich, Oats, and Wheat provides a smooth, soft canvas that allows the tropical aromatics to shine. It finishes crisp and punchy, delivering a sophisticated bitterness that balances the intense fruit-forward character, remaining true to its modern West Coast-meets-hazy roots.
Appearance. Gold to light orange (6-8 SRM) with a pronounced hazy, opaque nebula-like appearance. Features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical fruit, specifically lychee and passionfruit, alongside bright citrus and distinct notes of sweet berries. A low, clean, bready malt presence sits in the background with a hint of resinous pine.
Taste. Strong, complex hop flavors of citrus zest, ripe berries, and tropical lychee lead the palate. Bitterness is firm and moderately high but lacks harshness. The malt character is clean and supportive with a slight grainy sweetness from the Munich and wheat, finishing dry to medium-dry with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, smooth texture derived from the use of oats and wheat. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle lift, and a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
