Beer Description: Piwo Grodziskie is Poland’s forgotten gem—once beloved in the Middle Ages and named after the town of Grodzisk Wielkopolski near Pozna?. Over time it faded into obscurity, vanishing completely by the late 20th century. Then, in 2010, Poland’s craft beer pioneers at Pinta brought it roaring back to life.
Now, as Grodziskie celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2025, Schlenkerla offers its own tribute to this Polish original: Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier in the Grätzer style. The brewery dries wheat smoked malt in-house over open oak fires and adds Lubelski aroma hops for a bright, fruity lift.
The result? A crisp, bottom-fermented beer with gentle smoke, lively hop fruitiness, fine bubbles, and refreshingly low alcohol—easy to drink and hard to forget.

Browar Pinta has been brewing Grodziskie for 15 years. To mark this anniversary, we were invited to brew our interpretation of this historic smoked beer from the Poznan region. Grodziskie was already being consumed there in the Middle Ages. The beer style disappeared in the 20th century before Pinta brought it back to market in 2010.
For Schlenkerla Grodziskie, we use smoked wheat malt, dried over an open oak wood fire in our in-house malthouse, and particularly aromatic hops from Lubelski.
