Retorto Mosquito Killer is a vibrant, highly sessionable take on the American IPA, designed specifically for summer refreshment. The inclusion of citronella elevates the sensory profile, layering intense lemongrass and lemon zest notes over a foundation of citrusy and floral American hops. The malt presence is intentionally restrained, providing a lean, cracker-like backdrop that allows the botanical and hop oils to dominate. On the palate, a crisp, clean fermentation profile emphasizes a bright, punchy bitterness and a drying finish. This pale ale balances botanical freshness with the assertive hop character typical of the style, resulting in an exceptionally clean and revitalizing experience.

Appearance. Pale gold to deep yellow (SRM 6-7) with brilliant clarity. Topped by a persistent, medium-sized white head that leaves delicate lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity aromatics of fresh-cut lemongrass and citronella merge seamlessly with grapefruit and lime zest from the hops. Low, grainy-sweet malt provides a subtle anchor, while the fermentation is exceptionally clean with minimal esters.

Taste. Immediate hit of zesty lemon and herbal citronella, followed by a firm, resinous hop bitterness. The malt flavor is low and neutral, providing just enough structure to support the citrus-forward profile. Finishes very dry and crisp with a lingering, clean bitterness and a refreshing botanical aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. High carbonation enhances the prickly, refreshing quality of the citronella. No perceived alcohol warmth or astringency.
