Pulfer Brewery

Dark Quasar is a punchy Specialty IPA that balances shadowy malt aesthetics with a vibrant, modern hop profile. The inclusion of Citra and Mosaic drives a heavy tropical and stone fruit foundation, while Simcoe adds a distinctive resinous pine. The use of Southern Cross SubZero hop Kief intensifies the lime and lemon zest character, soaring over a backdrop of smooth, debittered roasted grains. Expect a clean fermentation that allows the interplay between light chocolate notes and aggressive New World hops to shine, finishing crisp and dry with a lingering, citrusy bitterness.

Appearance. Dark brown to near-opaque black (35-40 SRM). Topped by a dense, persistent tan head with excellent lacing. Clarity is clear but appears opaque due to the depth of color.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring layers of mango, blueberry, and passionfruit from Citra and Mosaic, alongside earthy pine and dank resin from Simcoe. A bright, concentrated citrus punch from Southern Cross hop Kief is prominent. Very low malt notes of toasted bread and faint cocoa provide a subtle foundation.

Taste. Initial hop-forward impact of grapefruit, pine, and tropical fruit. Malt flavors are restrained, offering clean chocolate and toasted notes typical of debittered malts. Medium-high bitterness is firm but smooth, never harsh or ashy. The finish is dry and crisp, with a long-lasting aftertaste of resinous hops and a wisp of dark malt.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Medium carbonation provides a lively scrub on the palate. A subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present at 6.8% ABV.
