Primator Stout
Primator Stout presents a sophisticated Central European take on the traditional Irish Stout, bridging the gap between Dublin’s dry intensity and a richer malt complexity. Brewed with a diverse grist including Pilsen and Munich malts alongside Roasted Barley and Oats, it offers a deep, multi-layered sensory profile. The use of Northern Brewer hops provides a firm, earthy counterpoint to the intense roasted grain character. Expect a journey of dark chocolate, toasted nuts, and caramel, balanced by a sharp, coffee-like bitterness. This high-fermentation ale maintains a smooth, creamy texture and a dry, lingering finish that honors its Anglo-Irish inspiration.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque with deep garnet highlights when held to the light. It features a thick, creamy, tan-colored head with excellent retention and fine-beaded lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity dominated by coffee-like roasted grain and cocoa. Secondary notes of hazelnut and caramel emerge as it warms, with a low earthy hop presence from Northern Brewer and faint fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is of sharp roasted barley and bittersweet chocolate. The mid-palate introduces a touch of Munich malt sweetness and toasted nuts, which is quickly balanced by a medium-high hop bitterness. The addition of Oats provides a smooth, grainy character that leads into a very dry, coffee-like finish with a lingering roasted aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notable silkiness and creaminess attributed to the use of oats. Carbonation is moderate. It remains remarkably smooth despite the heavy roast, with only a very light, pleasant grain astringency and no alcohol warmth.
