This Imperial-strength American Porter offers an indulgent sensory experience, dominated by a diverse array of chocolate malts and supplemental chocolate additions. The pour is viscous and nearly opaque, releasing a high-intensity aroma of bittersweet cocoa, roasted coffee, and subtle dark fruit esters. On the palate, the beer delivers a bold, velvety flood of dark chocolate and toasted grains, balanced by a firm but smooth hop bitterness that offsets the malt richness. The 10% ABV provides a sophisticated warmth that integrates seamlessly with the decadent sweetness, finishing with a lingering note of baker's chocolate and a soft, earthy hop character.
Appearance. Very dark brown, approaching black and nearly opaque. It features a dense, tan-colored head with excellent retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity chocolate and roasted malt aroma, featuring notes of cocoa powder and espresso. A background of caramel sweetness and light dark fruit esters is present, with a very low earthy hop character.
Taste. Moderately strong roasted flavor dominated by dark chocolate and fudge. A medium-high bitterness balances the malty richness.
