This complex Brett Beer emerges from the foundation of a Belgian-style Tripel, transformed by nearly two years of maturation in bourbon barrels. The aroma is a sophisticated interplay of funky Brettanomyces, offering notes of aged leather and hay set against a backdrop of toasted oak and sweet bourbon vanilla. Local wild lingonberries introduce a sharp, tart red fruit character that pierces through the spicy phenols of the base beer. On the palate, expect a bone-dry finish with vibrant acidity, where the tannic depth of the wood meets the zesty, puckering essence of the berries, resulting in a wild and layered sensory experience.
Appearance. SRM 10–14; hazy amber-copper with a distinct pinkish hue from the lingonberries. Moderate off-white head with fair retention and slight lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Complex funk of wet hay, leather, and apricot from Brettanomyces. Underlying notes of bourbon vanilla, coconut, and toasted oak. Sharp, tart red berry scent from lingonberries alongside faint clove phenols.
Taste. Immediate sharp lactic acidity and tart lingonberry flavor. Bone-dry with minimal malt sweetness. Brett character brings earthy, stone fruit depth. Bourbon barrel influence adds vanilla and wood tannins. Hop bitterness is low, balanced by acidic zip. Finish is lingering, tart, and tannic.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body; highly attenuated and crisp. Moderate carbonation. Subtle alcohol warmth. Noticeable tannic astringency from fruit skins and oak.
