Nurme Pinefruit IPA is a vibrant American IPA that masterfully bridges the gap between resinous forest floors and bright citrus groves. The strategic use of Simcoe and Mosaic hops creates a complex aromatic layer of berry, passionfruit, and deep evergreen, which is further amplified by the addition of fresh pine buds and grapefruit zest. A clean, grainy malt backbone supports the assertive hop character, leading to a crisp, dry finish. This medium-bodied ale showcases a brilliant interplay between the earthy spice of the forest and the sharp, pithy acidity of the citrus, offering an intensely aromatic sensory experience.
Appearance. Ranging from medium gold to light amber (7-10 SRM) with a slight haze from the botanical additions. Features a medium-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent resinous pine, dank earth, and forest floor notes from Simcoe and pine buds. This is balanced by bright grapefruit pith and tropical notes of blueberry and mango from Mosaic, supported by a low, clean, bready maltiness.
Taste. Initially hop-forward with assertive flavors of citrus zest and forest resin. A medium-high bitterness provides a firm structure against a low, clean, grainy malt background. Fermentation is clean with a dry to medium-dry finish and a lingering aftertaste of grapefruit oil and pine needles.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Moderate-high carbonation enhances the refreshing quality. No perceptible astringency from the zest or pine buds; very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
