This assertive Double IPA showcases the concentrated power of Citra and Simcoe through the use of T90 and Cryo hops. The Citra delivers a vibrant rush of grapefruit, zest, and tropical mango, while Simcoe provides a grounding layer of resinous pine and subtle passionfruit. At 8% ABV, the beer remains exceptionally drinkable, featuring a clean, neutral malt backbone that allows the saturated hop oils to lead. It balances a firm, high bitterness with a crisp, dry finish, delivering a modern lupulin-forward experience that emphasizes aromatic intensity and a smooth, well-integrated alcohol presence without heavy malt sweetness.
Appearance. Gold to light orange (6-9 SRM) with a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves significant lacing; slight haze is present due to heavy dry-hopping.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma characterized by bright citrus, grapefruit, and tropical fruit from Citra, alongside Simcoe's signature resinous pine and dank earthiness. Very low, neutral grainy malt in the background with a clean fermentation profile and a hint of smooth alcohol.
Taste. High bitterness is immediate but clean and lacking harshness. Intensely hoppy flavors of lime, mango, and resinous pine dominate. The malt is supportive and unobtrusive, providing a light grainy-sweet foundation. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering, bitter, and citrusy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop resins. Moderate-high carbonation provides a crisp bite, while a gentle, refined alcohol warmth is present without being hot or solventy.
