This Elderflower Rice Session IPA presents a vibrant and delicate sensory profile. It leads with a distinct, heady floral aroma of elderflower, layered over bright citrus and tropical hop notes characteristic of a modern American IPA. The addition of rice in the grist ensures a lean, pale malt backbone that emphasizes a crisp, clean fermentation character. On the palate, the floral sweetness of the elderflower is balanced by a firm hop bitterness, creating a refreshing, highly sessionable experience. Light-bodied and effervescent, it concludes with a bone-dry, lingering floral and resinous aftertaste that invites another sip.
Appearance. Pale gold (approx. 5 SRM) with a brilliant clarity. Renders a medium-sized, bright white head with excellent persistence and fine, delicate lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity hop-forward bouquet featuring grapefruit, melon, and pine, heavily infused with the sweet, perfumed scent of elderflower. Low, clean, grainy-sweet maltiness is present in the background, supported by a neutral fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is crisp and floral. Medium-high hop bitterness is immediate but not harsh, supporting flavors of citrus peel and floral elderflower. The malt flavor is low and cracker-like, influenced by the rice adjunct. The finish is very dry and clean with a short, hoppy, and floral aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a refreshing prickle on the tongue. Zero alcohol warmth and no detectable astringency.
