Mikkeller Black Hole is a formidable Imperial Stout that pushes the boundaries of the style with its intense 13.1% ABV and aggressive profile. It pours an impenetrable jet black, releasing high-intensity aromas of dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, and hints of black licorice. On the palate, a bold collision of hop bitterness and deep malt sweetness creates a complex explosion of nuances. Waves of dried plum and raisin meld with a velvety, chewy texture. The finish is long and warming, balancing scorched grain and resinous hops against a luxurious, heavy-bodied sweetness that anchors this extreme sensory experience.

Appearance. SRM 40+. Opaque jet black. Deep tan to dark brown head with moderate retention and visible legs on the glass due to high viscosity and alcohol content.

Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and charred grain. Moderate esters suggesting prunes and black currants. Prominent resinous and earthy hop character alongside a noticeable but clean alcohol presence.

Taste. Powerful initial impression of roasted malt, dark cocoa, and espresso. Aggressively high bitterness provides a sharp counterpoint to the significant malt sweetness. Flavors of black licorice and dried dark fruits emerge mid-palate. Finishes with a lingering, warming bittersweet character and a hint of tar.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied with a luscious, velvety, and chewy texture. Low to moderate carbonation. Significant but smooth alcohol warmth is present throughout with very low astringency.
