This International Pale Lager, a collaboration between Memento and Le Brasseur Noir, reimagines the classic Mexican Lager with a provocative twist. The sensory profile is defined by a refreshing, high-attenuation base that delivers a crisp, clean experience typical of the style. What sets it apart is the integrated spicy kick, offering a bold heat that contrasts beautifully against the beer's cold, thirst-quenching nature. Subtle grainy-malty sweetness and a dry finish provide the backdrop for the piquant spice to linger. It is a light-bodied, effervescent lager that balances traditional refreshment with an adventurous, piquant warmth in every sip.
Appearance. Pale straw to light gold (2–4 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a white, frothy head that displays moderate retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Low intensity with a clean fermentation profile. Initial scents of grainy-sweet malt and a hint of corn-like sweetness are joined by a subtle, piquant vegetal note from the spicy infusion. Hop aroma is very low, manifesting as faint floral or herbal traces.
Taste. The initial impression is crisp and neutral-clean. Light grainy-malt and crackery flavors lead into a medium-low bitterness. A distinct capsicum-like spice provides a bold heat that builds mid-palate. The finish is well-attenuated and dry, leaving a clean aftertaste with a lingering, pleasant warmth from the spice rather than the alcohol.
Mouthfeel. Light body with a high level of carbonation that provides a refreshing carbonic bite. Despite the low ABV, there is a noticeable physical warmth on the palate and throat due to the spicy ingredients. Smooth and clean without astringency.
