This unfiltered American Pale Ale presents a vibrant sensory journey led by a robust blend of American Zythos and New Zealand Kohatu hops. The Zythos delivers assertive pine and grapefruit citrus, while the Kohatu introduces subtle tropical undertones and lime zest. These bright, hop-forward aromatics are cradled by a soft malty cushion of bready and lightly toasted grains, providing a balanced foundation. On the palate, a crisp bitterness cuts through the medium-bodied texture, leading to a clean, refreshing finish. It is a modern, textured take on the style that emphasizes hop complexity and a lush mouthfeel without sacrificing classic drinkability.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale amber (6–8 SRM). The unfiltered nature results in a persistent slight haze. It supports a moderately large, creamy off-white head with excellent retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. Moderately high hop intensity featuring distinct notes of resinous pine, grapefruit peel, and crushed tropical fruit. A low to moderate bready malt backbone supports the hops, complemented by clean fermentation and very low fruity esters.
Taste. The initial impression is hop-forward, showcasing citrus zest and pine needles from the Zythos and Kohatu varieties. A supportive malt sweetness offers flavors of fresh bread and light biscuit. Moderate bitterness (approx. 40 IBU) provides structure, leading to a medium-dry finish where hop oils linger pleasantly without being harsh.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a slightly soft, rounded texture from being unfiltered. Moderate to high carbonation provides a crisp bite. Alcohol warmth is negligible at 5.6% ABV, and the finish is smooth without astringency.
