Magic Rock Fantasma
Fantasma is a vibrant American IPA that balances a sweetly smooth malt foundation with intense hop saturation. A base of Golden Promise and wheat provides a soft, bready texture, while Cara Munich adds a touch of subtle caramel sweetness. The hop profile is dominated by Citra, delivering a high-intensity sensory experience of tropical mango and resinous dankness. Initial bitterness from Magnum is clean and firm, supporting the fruit-forward character without overwhelming the palate. Fermented with house American ale yeast, the profile remains remarkably clean, allowing the interplay of juicy stone fruit and piney notes to shine through to a refreshingly dry, moreish finish.
Appearance. Pours a deep gold to light amber (6–9 SRM) with a persistent, frothy white head that leaves significant lacing. Clarity is generally clear to slightly hazy, reflecting the use of wheat and heavy dry-hopping.
Aroma. High hop intensity featuring prominent notes of tropical mango, citrus zest, and a distinctively resinous, dank character. The malt provides a moderate bready and light honey-like sweetness, while the fermentation is exceptionally clean with no noticeable esters.
Taste. The palate is led by an explosion of tropical fruit and mango flavors from the Citra hops, followed by a mid-palate of bready malt and a hint of caramel. Bitterness is medium-high and clean, providing a firm counterpoint to the initial juiciness. The finish is dry and refreshingly crisp, with a lingering resinous and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture derived from the wheat and Golden Promise malts. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a bright prickle on the tongue. Alcohol warmth is very low and well-integrated.
