Týraný pes reimagines the traditional Kölsch as a potent, Double Dry Hopped New England-style ale. This collaboration between MadCat and Malt Worm presents an intensified sensory profile where the characteristic delicate pear and apple yeast esters of the style are elevated by a high-intensity tropical and citrus hop presence. The 6.7% ABV provides a more substantial body and a light warmth that complements the soft, grainy malt backbone. It pours with a modern haze, deviating from traditional clarity to deliver a rounded, juicy mouthfeel that finishes with a clean, well-attenuated crispness and a lingering fruity character.
Appearance. Medium yellow to light gold. Unlike traditional brilliant examples, this New England iteration exhibits a persistent haze. It is topped with a delicate, frothy white head that shows moderate retention and leaves light lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics lead with tropical fruit and citrus hop notes. Supporting these are subtle fruity esters of pear and apple typical of the style yeast, balanced by a low, clean, grainy-sweet malt presence.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with juicy stone fruit and citrus flavors. A medium-low grainy maltiness provides a soft bready foundation. Bitterness is moderate but smooth, balancing the elevated alcohol. The finish is soft and dry, lacking any harshness, with a clean aftertaste of fresh fruit.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, rounded texture. Carbonation is medium to medium-high. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is noticeable, though it remains soft on the palate without being heavy or astringent.
