Mad Scientist Chaiwala is a formidable Double IPA that challenges expectations, delivering an intense 11.3% ABV experience. The sensory profile is dominated by a pungent Masala Chai blend, where notes of cardamom, ginger, and clove intertwine with a resinous and citrusy hop character. The addition of milk sugar provides a latte-like silkiness that rounds out the aggressive bitterness. Despite its massive strength, the beer maintains a clear, deep gold appearance and a lingering, spicy finish that highlights the brewer's intent to fuse a bold, hoppy ale with the comforting aromatics of spiced tea.

Appearance. Deep gold to light copper (12 SRM); excellent clarity with a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of grapefruit and resinous pine, heavily layered with Masala Chai spices including ginger, clove, and cardamom. A supportive, clean, grainy maltiness is present in the background along with a light, creamy sweetness and noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth.

Taste. Initial impression is a burst of complex hop bitterness and warming spice. Assertive bitterness is balanced by a soft, milk-sugar sweetness and clean malt character. Flavors of citrus zest and pine needles mix with the Masala Chai spices. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering hoppy and spicy aftertaste. Fermentation is clean with very low fruitiness, allowing the adjuncts to dominate.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, creamy texture from the lactose. Carbonation is moderate. Significant, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being solventy or harsh. No hop-derived astringency despite the high bitterness.
