This Belgian Blond Ale presents a romantic fusion of tradition and botanical intrigue. A base of grainy-sweet malt provides a smooth canvas for the addition of tart physalis fruit and a proprietary blend of Indian herbs. These unique ingredients heighten the classic Belgian yeast profile, adding layers of exotic spice and tangy citrus to the expected orange and lemon esters. With four different kinds of hop providing a subtle earthy foundation, the beer remains elegantly balanced. The finish is soft and dry, carrying a gentle perfume of alcohol and botanical complexity that lingers pleasantly on the palate, perfectly capturing the brewer's intent of shared romance.
Appearance. Deep gold color (6 SRM). Large, dense, and creamy white head with excellent retention and characteristic Belgian lacing. Generally very clear with a brilliant shimmer.
Aroma. Moderate intensity with a grainy-sweet, crackery malt base. The yeast profile features prominent orange and lemon esters, complemented by light spicy-peppery phenols. Notable tart, tropical notes from the physalis fruit and a unique, earthy botanical aroma from the Indian herbs are present, alongside a light perfumy alcohol quality.
Taste. Initial impression is of smooth, grainy-sweet malt with faint honey-like notes. Medium bitterness allows the malt and fruit to remain prominent. Flavors of orange citrus and peppery yeast phenols are joined by the tangy, berry-like character of physalis fruit. The Indian herbs provide a delicate, savory spice in the background. Finishes medium-dry and soft with a light malt and perfumy alcohol aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a mouth-filling, bubbly sensation from medium-high carbonation. Smooth, light alcohol warmth is present. Displays a somewhat creamy texture that softens the finish.
