LHG Brewpub NZ Table Beer
This Belgian Single bridges traditional monastic structure with a vibrant New Zealand hop profile. At a sessionable 3% ABV, it presents a delicate yet complex bouquet driven by Nectaron, Nelson Sauvin, Wai-iti, and Motueka Cryo. Aromas of white grape skin and stone fruit apricot mesh seamlessly with peppery Belgian yeast esters. The palate is underpinned by a soft, grainy-sweet malt base that supports bright citrus notes and a firm, hop-forward bitterness. Effervescent and bone-dry, it finishes with a lingering crispness and light floral notes, creating a refreshing and highly expressive table beer experience.
Appearance. Pale straw to light gold (3 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a tall, billowy white head that exhibits excellent persistence and fine, decorative lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Distinctive notes of Nelson Sauvin provide a vinous, crushed grape character, while Nectaron adds stone fruit apricot. Motueka Cryo contributes a zesty lime citrus. These are balanced by peppery yeast phenols and a light, crackery malt background.
Taste. Initial impressions of honeyed biscuit and grainy malt are quickly overtaken by hop flavors of apricot and citrus. The Nelson Sauvin imparts a characteristic grape skin tartness. Mid-palate bitterness is medium-high, leading into a crisp, dry, and slightly spicy finish where floral hop notes and peppery yeast character linger.
Mouthfeel. Light body with high, prickly carbonation that enhances the perceived dryness. Smooth texture with no alcohol warmth, staying true to its sessionable table beer roots.
