This Dunkles Weissbier presents a harmonious marriage of rustic malt depth and classic yeast character. Hallertauer Tradition hops provide a gentle, clean bitterness that lets the complex grain bill shine. On the nose, expectant notes of banana and spicy clove mingle with a rich, toasted bread aroma. The palate reveals layers of crusty bread and subtle roasted touches, hallmarks of dark wheat and Munich malts. Its effervescent nature lifts the darker flavors, ensuring the finish remains refreshing and dry despite the malty richness. It is a quintessential dark wheat ale that balances savory grain with bright fermentation esters.
Appearance. Light copper to mahogany brown with a distinct haze from the wheat and yeast; topped with a very thick, moussy, long-lasting off-white head.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring a well-balanced blend of banana esters and spicy clove phenols. A deep bready and doughy wheat character is prominent, accented by toasted bread crust and caramel malt notes. Low herbal spicy notes from Hallertauer Tradition hops are barely perceptible.
Taste. The initial impression is of soft, bready wheat and rich caramel, followed quickly by banana and clove flavors. Hallertauer Tradition hops offer a very low bitterness, maintaining a malt-forward balance without cloying. Touches of roasted grain emerge mid-palate, leading to a clean, relatively dry finish with lingering notes of toast and spice.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a fluffy, creamy texture. High carbonation creates a lively, effervescent sensation on the tongue. Alcohol warmth is very light and well-integrated at 5.4% ABV.
