Das La Trappe Witte Trappist ist das erste Trappisten Weizenbier der Welt. Anders als bei anderen Witbieren kommt beim Brauen des Witte Trappist nur Wasser, Hopfen und Weizen zum Einsatz, Kräuter werden nicht verwendet. Geschmacklich ist das Witte Trappist besonders durch den Saphir Hopfen geprägt. Dieser gibt dem Bier Noten, die an Zitrusfrüchten erinnern. Durch diesen frischen Geschmack eignet sich das Bier ganz besonders für warme Sommertage.
Nach der Abfüllung in die Flasche verbleibt noch etwas Hefe in der Flasche, wodurch eine Flaschengärung in Gang gesetzt wird. Das Bier reift also in der Flasche weiter und jede Flasche hat daher einen sehr individuellen Geschmack, je nach dem wie lange das Bier bereits in der Flasche gereift ist.

La Trappe Witte è l’unica birra bianca al mondo che può fregiarsi del titolo di Birra Trappista.
Si mostra con un colore dorato (un po’ più carico delle normali Blanche), con un velo di lieviti in sospensione che la rende leggermente torbida.
Schiuma bianca candida, a trama medio/fitta e dalla buona persistenza.
Sentori olfattivi classici dello stile: cereali, agrumi (scorza d’arancia e limone), spezie (coriandolo) e lievito belga.
Con un corpo ed una carbonatazione media, al palato ritroviamo le sensazioni percepite al naso con una leggera finitura acidula.
Una birra estremamente fresca e beverina, particolarmente indicata nei periodi caldi con un retrogusto asciutto, leggermente agrumato e finemente amaro/acidulo.
