La Pirata Cigaló is a decadent Baltic Porter that masterfully integrates four years of Pedro Ximénez barrel aging with bold Colombian coffee. The deep, dark base offers layers of molasses and toasted Munich malt, which are elevated by the intense vinous character and dried fruit notes of the sherry wood. A delicate addition of cinnamon weaves through the aroma, complementing the rich roast of the coffee. The experience is incredibly smooth yet powerful, reflecting its namesake coffee-liquor blend. Lush textures of raisins and dark chocolate culminate in a warming, lingering finish that balances sweetness with a sophisticated, aged complexity.

Appearance. Opaque dark brown with deep reddish-copper highlights at the edges. Capped by a thick, persistent tan head that leaves dense lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity with a complex profile of freshly roasted Colombian coffee and subtle spicy cinnamon. Deep malt accents of dark chocolate and molasses are layered with a strong vinous, Port-like quality from the Pedro Ximénez barrels, showing notes of raisins and prunes. No hop aroma; clean fermentation profile.

Taste. Initial impression is malty-sweet, featuring toffee, nutty complexity, and molasses. A prominent yet smooth roast flavor, reminiscent of Schwarzbier but enriched by coffee, dominates the mid-palate without being burnt. Flavors of dark dried fruits and sweet sherry lead to a dryish finish. Bitterness is medium-low, just enough to balance the residual sugars and barrel richness. Long, warming aftertaste of licorice and cocoa.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium-low, contributing to a mouth-filling sensation. Noticeable alcohol warmth is well-integrated and deceptive, providing a gentle glow without harshness.
