Belgian Blonde Ale 6.5 º 45 IBU
Kasteel Hoppy is a refined Belgian Blonde IPA that balances regional tradition with modern hop-forward tendencies. Ranging from bright gold to pale amber, it leads with an inviting bouquet of earthy and herbal Belgian hops, complemented by a light touch of meadow herbs and the brewery’s signature estery yeast profile. Despite the 45 IBU, the bitterness is notably smooth, integrating seamlessly with a mildly malty, cracker-like foundation. This medium-bodied ale avoids being a hop bomb, favoring a nuanced, thirst-quenching character with a crisp, clean finish that highlights the quality of its carefully selected Belgian hops and Belgian craftsmanship.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber (6–9 SRM). Large, persistent white head with fine bubbles and excellent lacing. Generally clear with high brilliance.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring earthy, herbal, and spicy hop notes. A subtle background of peppery herbs is present. Malt character is low to moderate, suggesting honey and toasted grain, supported by light fruity esters like pear and apple.
Taste. Initial impression of soft, bready malt sweetness followed by a clean, herbal hop flavor. Bitterness is moderate and firm but not harsh, well-balanced by the malt backbone. Fermentation character is clean with light spicy phenols and fruity esters. The finish is off-dry and refreshing with a lingering floral aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, rounded texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a lively and crisp mouthfeel. Alcohol warmth is very low and well-integrated. No astringency.

The Kasteel Hoppy, with a bitterness grade of 45 EBU, fits perfectly into the new wave of Belgian blonde beers in which hops are very much in the foreground thanks to the technique of dry hopping. The Kasteel Hoppy is a thirst-quencher that sits somewhere between a traditional ‘spéciale belge’ amber beer and an extra-hopped IPA (India Pale Ale). The aromas of hops and herbs predominate. It’s very mild in taste with a subtle bitterness that increases towards the finish.  Quite full in the mouth, Kasteel Hoppy is slightly sweet with a mildly malty character. Not a ‘hop bomb’ by any means.
