This California IPA presents a vibrant sensory exchange led by the resinous and citrus-forward contributions of Meridian, Bravo, and Mosaic hops. The aroma is dominated by fresh pine needles and bright grapefruit, underlined by a subtle berry complexity from the Mosaic. On the palate, a crisp, lean malt profile allows pithy orange and assertive hop resin to take center stage. It finishes remarkably dry with a lingering, clean bitterness, epitomizing the American IPA focus on hop intensity despite its accessible strength. This is a refreshing, hop-forward experience that balances classic resinous character with modern fruit-forward depth.
Appearance. Pours a brilliant medium gold (approx. 7 SRM) with a persistent, frothy off-white head that leaves moderate lacing. Clarity is high with only a very faint chill haze.
Aroma. High hop intensity featuring prominent notes of resinous pine, grapefruit zest, and a hint of tropical berry. Low, clean grainy maltiness provides a neutral background, while fermentation remains very clean with no significant esters.
Taste. Initial impression is of sharp citrus pith and resin. Mid-palate flavors of grapefruit and orange peel from the Meridian and Bravo hops are supported by a light, toasted grain malt character. Bitterness is high and firm. The finish is very dry and crisp with a lingering piney aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop oils. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a prickly, refreshing sensation. No alcoholic warmth is detected.
