Zenith Vortex is a quintessential West Coast IPA, delivering a bright and bracing sensory experience. The hop profile is led by the punchy citrus of Citra and the distinct herbal, lemon-zest character of Lemondrop, supported by the resinous, forest-floor depth of Simcoe and Columbus. These varieties weave together to create a profile that is intensely citrusy and piney against a lean, neutral malt backdrop. With its high attenuation and assertive bitterness, the beer offers a crisp, dry finish that emphasizes its clean fermentation. It is a vibrant exploration of modern hop intensity, balancing sharp grapefruit and needle-pine notes with refreshing clarity.
Appearance. Medium gold (approx 7 SRM). Brilliant clarity. Medium-sized, white head with good persistence and fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent grapefruit and tangerine from Citra, backed by a sharp lemon-zest note from Lemondrop. Deeper layers reveal earthy resin and pine needles characteristic of Simcoe and Columbus. Malt is low, presenting as clean, crackery grain. Fermentation is clean with no significant esters.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impression of citrus pith and resin. Mid-palate showcases a lean, grainy malt sweetness that quickly gives way to a firm, mounting bitterness. Flavor follows aroma with lemon, pine, and tropical citrus notes. Finish is dry and crisp, leaving a lingering, clean bitterness and a faint piney aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, non-astringent texture. High carbonation provides a crisp bite. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, consistent with its 7.1% ABV.
