This Triple Oatmeal Imperial Stout presents a monumental sensory experience, led by its massive 13.8% ABV and maturation in select bourbon barrels. The aroma is an intense layering of dark chocolate and espresso, with prominent threads of vanilla, oak, and whiskey rising from the glass. On the palate, the triple oatmeal addition creates a luxurious, velvety texture that carries deep flavors of molasses and dried dark fruits. Robust roasted malt bitterness is balanced by the residual sweetness and smooth spirit tannins, culminating in a long, warming finish that emphasizes the complex interplay between bourbon character and dark grain.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque. Pours with a dense, dark tan head that shows moderate retention. Distinctive oily legs are visible on the glass due to the high viscosity and 13.8% alcohol content.

Aroma. High intensity and deeply complex. Dominant aromas of bittersweet chocolate and roasted coffee beans meld with strong bourbon notes of charred oak, spicy whiskey, and rich vanilla. Background esters suggest raisins and prunes, while the oatmeal contributes a faint grainy sweetness. Alcohol is noticeable but smooth and well-integrated.

Taste. The initial impression is rich and decadent, featuring layers of dark roasted grains, cocoa, and molasses. The bourbon barrel aging adds significant depth with toasted oak and vanilla bean flavors. Mid-palate reveals dark fruit complexity like black currants and figs. Bitterness is firm but tempered by the massive malt backbone and oatmeal silkiness. The finish is long and warming with a lingering spirit-like quality and sweet roast.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a thick, chewy, and velvety texture enhanced by the heavy use of oats. Carbonation is low to moderate, providing just enough lift to the dense liquid. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present without being harsh or solventy.
