Hop Union Brewery

This vibrant American IPA presents a sensory collision of zesty citrus and smooth malt. The grain bill, featuring Maris Otter and a touch of Light Chocolate Malt, provides a golden-orange hue and a subtle toasted foundation. Prominent additions of Idaho 7, Citra, and Simcoe hops layer intense aromas of tropical mango and pink grapefruit over a refreshing blood orange core. The use of orange peel in the whirlpool imparts a distinct, pithy bitterness that balances the soft, oat-driven texture. It finishes dry and crisp, leaving a lingering trail of resinous pine and bright, sun-ripened citrus flavors.

Appearance. Golden-orange (9-11 SRM). Persistent, off-white, creamy head with moderate lacing. Features a slight haze from the inclusion of flaked oats and heavy dry-hopping.

Aroma. High intensity. Bright blood orange and tangerine zest are dominant. Hop character features tropical pineapple, grapefruit, and resinous pine. Low, bready malt support with a very faint, nutty toasted note. Clean fermentation profile.

Taste. Immediate burst of citrus zest and pithy orange. Hop flavors of mango and stone fruit transition into a resinous, piney finish. Low to medium-low bready malt with a hint of caramel. Moderate-high bitterness that is firm but clean, leading to a dry, hoppy aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a noticeably smooth, slightly creamy texture from flaked oats. Moderate-high carbonation. No alcohol warmth; very refreshing with no astringency.
