This collaboration Double IPA between HOMES and Fidens is a sensory showcase of New World hop intensity. Brewed with Citra and heavily dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, and Peacherine, it delivers an aromatic explosion of ripe papaya and nectarine. The New Zealand hop profile is front and center, providing a distinct lime zest brightness and sophisticated stone fruit character. While the 8.5% ABV provides a smooth, integrated warmth, the beer remains focused on fruit-forward hops rather than heavy malt. It balances a firm bitterness with a clean, neutral malt backbone, resulting in a complex yet highly drinkable profile that finishes with a crisp, resinous citrus punch.
Appearance. 6-14 SRM. Pale gold to light orange-copper color. Moderate-sized, persistent white head with fine lacing. Clear to slightly hazy, which is typical for modern heavily dry-hopped versions.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of tropical papaya, juicy nectarine, and sharp lime zest. Clean, neutral maltiness remains in the background. Light fruity esters from the Peacherine hops complement a neutral fermentation profile. No solventy alcohol, though a slight sweet warmth is present.
Taste. Initial impression is a wave of tropical fruit and stone fruit flavors, specifically peach and nectarine. Hop flavor is intense and complex, showcasing the citrus and white grape characteristics of Nelson Sauvin and Motueka. Bitterness is moderately high but smooth and well-integrated. Low grainy malt support leads to a dry, clean finish with a lingering hoppy and citrusy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Moderate carbonation. Restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present but not harsh. Lacks hop-derived astringency despite the heavy dry-hopping.
