Heaney Brewery Irish Stout
An elegant Irish Stout delivering a comforting bouquet of fresh-roasted coffee beans and bittersweet dark chocolate. This dark, ruby-highlighted pour surprises the palate with a surprisingly rich, velvety body that belies its sessionable strength. Layers of dark roasted malts provide a robust, roasty structure, balancing a clean, moderate bitterness. The experience culminates in a classically dry, crisp finish that lingers with a clean, toasted grain character. Remarkably smooth and cohesive, it beautifully bridges Cork-style chocolate richness with a traditional, dry Dublin-style finish, making it highly drinkable yet deeply satisfying.
Appearance. Opaque, jet black with deep ruby-garnet highlights when held to the light. Crowned by a dense, persistent, light tan head that leaves elegant lacing down the glass.
Aroma. High intensity aroma dominated by freshly ground dark roast coffee and unsweetened dark chocolate. Subliminal hints of toasted grain and a very low, clean, earthy hop note, with negligible fermentation esters.
Taste. Initial impression of rich, bittersweet cocoa and dark roasted malt. The mid-palate introduces a clean, moderate hop bitterness that perfectly balances the grainy sweetness. Finishes highly dry with a lingering, roasted coffee-like character and no harsh astringency.
Mouthfeel. Medium body, surprisingly rich and smooth for the style. Moderate carbonation with a soft, creamy texture. No warming alcohol presence and a very low, well-managed grain astringency.
